Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do you have any information on the history of the telephone?

A: We are not experts on the history of the telephone. Our business simply functions to sell a family antique phone collection. There are many great internet resources on wooden wall phones and antique phones. We would suggest that you use your internet search browser to research your specific topics of interest. For your convenience, we have listed a couple of interesting and helpful links.

Q: Do any or all of your phones work with today’s telephone systems?

A. Although our telephones are a mixture of original, reconstructed originals or authentic looking phones, none of them will automatically work with your modern phone system. However, it may be possible to make them work with some time and effort. We have found a couple of antique phone websites that can make your phone work on a modern telephone system (assuming, of course, that your phone is complete and an authentic/original already. While we absolutely uphold an honest approach to our business, we have no way to completely “know” if you will be able to make your phone work on today’s system). If you are interested in a complete “restoration” to a modern system, we recommend that you consult either one or both of the following companies before purchasing our phones.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not accept returns on purchased items if they cannot be restored to work with a modern phone company. However, we do our best to honestly present our collection so that there are no misunderstandings. If you have concerns, please contact us, and we can make a private arrangement with you.

Q: Are your phones original, or are they reproductions?

A:
By original, we mean that a product is an authentic, original antique phone made back in the 1920s, 30s, or whatever era the phone first made its appearance. We have noticed that many websites today state that they have originals; however, by our definition they are considered “original reproductions.” Most of our inventory are authentic original antique phones OR restored originals with authentic parts. If a phone is not completely original, it is noted in the description. Our very few reproduction phones are clearly labeled (we only have a couple.) We invite you to read our story on the “Our Story” page to better understand our collection and business. It is important to note that most of our wooden wall phones have been pieced together with authentic original parts and handcrafted boxes. All items in our store are as accurately described as possible. Please feel free to contact us with your questions or concerns.
